Aims and Objectives | To acquire and master basic concepts of general chemistry (knowledge and understanding) for a better understanding of phenomena linked to living sciences and mainly to living chemistry. To link the concepts between them and apply them to classical and concrete problems with growing difficulties. |
Description | Introduction : basic concepts about matter ; atoms ; molecules and ions. Stoechiometry of chemical reactions; chemical calculations. Reactions in aqueous solutions; general and colligative properties of solutions. Gases and properties. Energy in chemical reactions. Electronic structure of atoms and the periodic tabel. Chemical bondings: ionic bond model and covalent bond model; shapes of molecules. Intermolecular forces. Chemical equilibriums and altering equilibrium conditions: Le Chatelier’s principle. Acid-base equilibriums: Brônsted-Lowry acid-base theory; the pH of aqueous solutions; buffer solutions. Solubility and complexation equilibriums. Oxydoreduction equilibriums. Reactions rates and factors that influence reactions rates. Thermodynamics: principles and Gibb’s function. Nuclear chemistry. |
