Aims and Objectives

1. Ability

a) to summarize written and audiovisual documents and to comment on them orally and in writing

b) to deliver 5-minute speeches

c) to write the abstract of the degree-conferring dissertation in genuine English

2. Command of the basic technical vocabulary related to library science

Description

-Command of the basic technical vocabulary related to the department

-Practice of the written language: study of various types of documents dealing both with topics related to the specificity of the department and with subjects of more general cultural interest, writing of the abstract of the degree-conferring dissertation

-Practice of the spoken language

a) Reading and conversation exercises based on the above-mentioned documents

b) Use of audio(visual) media (listening comprehension, repetition drills, conversation)

c) 5-minute speeches

Bibliography

Book reviews taken from magazines and newspapers. Audiovisual documents (BBC, CNN)
