Aims and Objectives

This course aims to convey a sum of knowledge relevant to culture in general, and a method for humanist thought. To understand how the flutter of a butterfly's wings can result in an anticyclone is much the same as understanding how the invention of the ritual Mesopotamian calendar has led to the theory of relativity. Within the framework of educating information specialists, it seems essential  to apprehend the notions of evolution of scientific thought from a pluralistic point of view, without compromising with sound principles and with no preconceptions. Our view must be interdisciplinary and free from dogma.

Description

The course of third year begins with sciences and technology from the « Renaissance ». Sciences of the times Classiques and Modern finish the reviews historical. Modern science is generally approached in complement of the courses of biology, physics and chemistry. Let us recall that the course of history of sciences and technology is never approached under the purely scientific angle but rather under the cultural and political angle.
