Aims and Objectives

The mechanical technician must be able to:

determine the abilities of a gauging instrument;

calibrate a gauging instrument;

Make a simple gauging and estimate the gauging error.

Description

Metrology aims:

Qualities of gauging instruments;

Marked gauging and gauge bloc;

Different error types;

Gauging equipment calibration;

Usual gauging instruments;

Angle measurement and gauging;

Error estimation;

Thread gauging;

Surface roughness.

Practical work:

Shaft gauging, bore gauging, depth gauging, space between

pins gauging

Angle gauging, cone gauging.

Cylindrical gauging.

Thread gauging.
