Aims and Objectives | Optimising comprehension skills through reading activities based on a wide selection of documents dealing with social topics and issues. Extending the specific terminology of “English for social purposes”. Enhancing the ability to efficiently summarize or translate essential information and data extracted from the aforesaid documents. |
Description | Selection of diversified original documents covering various socially oriented issues. Among other things, the following topics will be included: indebtedness and foreclosures, unemployment, benefits and allowances (application terms and forms), immigration, social services the USA (including background, history, organization, social security benefits, welfare programs, poverty line, etc.), US health care system (including the latest Obama reform). |
