Aims and Objectives

At the end of the course, students will be able to :

- describe the differents types of care for disabled persons ;

- describe the usual means of prevention and of taking charge ;

- analyze a rehabilitation or therapeutic method adapted to specific handicaps.

Description

Care of the disabled child or adult : different types of institutions, special education, various services.

The different types of disabilities (sensory, motor, mental) will be surveyed and emphasis will be put on nursing techniques. Several approaches will be singled out (snoezelen, zootherapy, …) but course content can be adapted to topics of interest and the needs of field work (training placement, student interest, …).
