Aims and Objectives

To approach the different levels of competencies-federal, communitary and regional – involved in mental health and psychiatric political decisions in Belgium to better know the general network and its complexity.

To allow students to participate in the future, as specialized nurses, to build addiction prevention projects, mental health programs or care activities which require a subsidy demand.

Description

The historical evolution of madness and mental health disorders from the Middle Ages till nowadays and the care and treatment organizations.

The state reform and the transfers of psychiatric and mental health competencies from the federal level to the communitary and the region levels rules of these levels.

Organization of the psychiatric outpatient sector: mental health services, day hospitals, readaptation centres...and specific missions: addiction care and prevention, sexual abuse problem...

Organization of the inpatient sector: psychiatric hopsitals for adults and children, “Psychiatric care houses”, “protected habitations”

The psychiatric platforms in the Province: missions and functioning.
