Aims and Objectives

At the end of the course, student will be able

  • to explain of what "deontology" consists, and its reason to be for the librarians
  • to present the missions of the library
  • to present the librarian's missions, his competences and his duties
  • to distinguish various professional associations, and their publications
  • to summarize the recurring fundamental points in the principal codes of conduct of the information professionals
  • to give an analysis and a personal opinion relating to ethical problems to which he's likely to be confronted in the exercise of its future profession, such as for example: professional relationships, censure, Internet in library, the rights...
